My Wish For 2021
As we transition into the new year, most are bidding good riddance to 2020. Something we can all agree on and hope for is that 2021 be filled with good health and happiness, not only for ourselves, but for the world.
During this time of reflection, my thoughts turn to a favorite book, The Gift of Nothing. I gifted this book to loved ones many Christmases ago, yet it is evermore relevant as the previous year comes to a close and the new year commences. The story is about a cat named Mooch and his dog friend, Earl. As Mooch tries and tries to find the perfect gift for his friend, he discovers what is truly important. He gives Earl a beautifully wrapped present as they sit on the roof looking at the stars together. Earl is confused when he opens the seemingly empty gift. Mooch explains that it is the gift of nothing and everything, for the time they spend together is the best gift of all.
My hope and wish for you and all your loved ones is that you discovered in this year like no other, the gift of nothing. It is in this nothingness that we find the true gift of life, which is everything that cannot but bought or sold. It is the gift of love.
